- Additional Information
Euromax Brazilian made steering box for 62-77 VW Type 1 Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 3. These are the only steering box with a bronze bushing on both ends of the steering shaft for longer reliability. Accepts late style 24mm small pitman arm and fits all VW Type 1 beams. If you are fitting this to a 1961 and earlier car, you will need a new 24mm pitman arm. Contact us for the correct arm for your application.
Made in Brazil.
Tech Tip: These steering boxes may need adjustment once installed. They should be adjusted to snug on-center and will be looser towards full left and right lock - that is how all VW styke steering gear boxes are made to operate. Brand new steering boxes always have a break-in period of a couple hundred miles, and will need a final adjustment after break in is complete.
Still have loose steering after install and break-in? The most common loose steering culprits are steering coupler (aka rag joint), loose pitman arm, and worn tie rod ends. Check all these components to locate the loose steering culprit.
