Collection: Pitman Arms
Pitman Arms & Steering Dogbone for VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Dune Buggy, Sand Rail, and Baja Bugs. Pitman arms (sometimes called dogbones) connect your steering box to the steering tie rods.
Pitman Arm & Steering Box Differences:
Small tie rod ends were used from 1949-05/1968 and use 10mm threads or a 17mm nut.
Large tie rod ends were used from 05/1968-1977 and use 12mm threads or a 19mm nut.
Early steering boxes from 1949-1961 used a large diameter 28mm output shaft. These steering boxes are no longer made, and difficult to find.
Late steering boxes from 1962-77 used a small diameter 24mm output shaft. Aftermarket steering boxes will be this style.
If replacing a completely original early steering box, you may need to update your pitman arm as well.
