Empi billet late style shift coupler for 1965-79 Beetle, 1965-74 Karmann Ghia, 1965-73 Type 3, 1968-79 Bus Type 2, and 1973-74 Thing. This piece connects the shift rod to the transmission shift shaft in the rear of the car.
Made from CNC billet aluminum with a solid through-bolt for secure mounting and longevity, this solid shift coupler will eliminate worn shift coupler rubbers and inserts. Includes pre-drilled grub screw.

Listen, this thing is built well. Like a brick shithouse. Here's the problem, the original coupler, as disposable as it may seem, has rubberized mounts that absorb vibration. This does the opposite of that. Any vibration is amplified down the shift rod. If your old, worn, vintage raddle trap somehow is perfectly smooth - then this is the part for you!!

Restoring a 76 standard, fit and finish is perfect, absolutely no slop in the linkage at all once paired with the Washburn shift rod bushing and a new Empi trigger shifter. Thanks for the quick shipping as well!
