Starter Bushing 6v Starter to 12v Beetle Transaxle 13.5mm OD 12.5mm ID 00-4028-0

Starter bushing 00-4028-0 for installing a 6 volt Beetle starter into a 12 volt Beetle style transaxle. This starter bushing sits inside the transmission bellhousing and catches the starter pinion shaft when you activate the starter.

Measures 13.5mm OD and 12.5mm ID. Fits in 12 Volt 1967-later Beetle style transaxles and allows use of an early 6 volt Beetle starter.

Tech Tip: Following poor grounds and switch contacts, a worn starter bushing is the next most common starter issue for aircooled VWs. A worn bushing may allow too much slop in the starter pinion, or not allow complete engagement of the flywheel. These bushings can be removed by pressing the pushing out while the engine is removed, or you can thread a 12mm bolt inside the bushing and pull it out of the starter hole.
