Starter Bushing 12v Starter to 6v Beetle Transaxle 16.5mm OD 11mm ID 00-4027-0

Starter bushing 00-4027-0 for installing a 12 volt Beetle starter into a 6 volt Beetle style transaxle. This starter bushing sits inside the transmission bellhousing and catches the starter pinion shaft when you activate the starter.

Measures 16.5mm OD and 11mm ID. Fits in 6 Volt 1966 and earlier Beetle style transaxles and allows use of a 12 volt style Beetle starter.

Tech Tip: Following poor grounds and switch contacts, a worn starter bushing is the next most common starter issue for aircooled VWs. A worn bushing may allow too much slop in the starter pinion, or not allow complete engagement of the flywheel. These bushings can be removed by pressing the pushing out while the engine is removed, or you can thread a 12mm bolt inside the bushing and pull it out of the starter hole.
