Which starter do I need for my Beetle, Ghia, Dune Buggy, or other vintage VW?
WOSP LMS1101 fits Type 1 transaxles and all 12 volt Bug style flywheels. This includes 1967-later Beetle, Ghia, Type 3, Thing, 1968-73 411 and 412, and 1967-75 Bus or Transporter. This also fits Porsche 356 with a late style 12v 130 tooth flywheel ring gear.
For Bus transaxles: This starter fits a 2-3/4 inch bell housing to starter flange distance. This is for 002 style 3-rib and 5-rib transaxles with stock bell housings.
WOSP LMS1104 fits 091 and 094 style transaxles. This includes 1976-86 Transporter, Vanagon, Campmobile, and Kombi with the 2.0L aircooled, or 1.9L, 2.0L, and 2.1L waterboxer or watercooled gasoline engines.
For Bus transaxles: This starter fits a 3-1/4 inch bell housing to starter flange distance. This is for 091 and 094 style 6-rib transaxles with stock bell housings.
WOSP LMS1105 fits Type 1 and 356 transaxles with early 6 volt 109 tooth flywheels. These starters still use 12 volt electrical systems, but are have the correct starter pinion gear to fit original 6-volt 109 tooth ring gear and stock 6-volt flywheels. This includes 1954-66 Beetle and Ghia, 1948-65 Porsche 356 Pre-A, 356A, 356B, 356C models with stock 6 volt flywheels and12 volt electrical systems.
WOSP LMS1148 fits 094 Syncro 4WD transaxles. These starters fit the 4 wheel drive Vanagon Syncro style transmission used in 1986-92 Vanagon Syncro 4WD models.
