Weddle sportsman 002 ring and pinion set. This 4.57 ratio Gleason tooth cut is made from AISI 9310 gear steel which greatly increases strength over steel used in stock and econo ring and pinion sets.
Weddle sportsman ring and pinion sets are also shot peened after heat treatment to reduce stress risers and provide more fatigue resistance. Shafts feature rolled 4th gear splines and precision ground bearing journals.
These ring and pinion sets offer a taller gear ratio than stock for the 68-75 VW Type 2 Bus transmission. They fit 3-rib and 5-rib 002 style transaxles also used in some dune buggies. This ratio combined with a little extra horsepower can turn your bus transmission into a freeway flyer.
