Nine air-cooled VW powered competitors raced in this year's TDRA Twin 150s at Notrees Texas. Only two racers were able to finish the race. Midwesterner and Off Road Racer Juan Rivero placed third in his first desert race.

The Texas Desert Racing Association Twin 150's desert race was a battle for all of the racers in the Air-cooled VW powered class.

Competitors in race prepped baja bugs and race buggies struggled to keep their machines together through the rough terrain. The Twin 150's is a two part competition.  Racers run the handlebar course one way during the day, have a break and then race the course backwards as night falls.

There were nine air-cooled VW competitors that showed up to race.  The top two finishers, Stephen Sonnenburg and Billy Dobbs, were the only two to competely finish the race.

Unfortunately, Dune Buggy Warehouse local racer Phillip Drew had some tough breaks in the prerun of the race that left him with a damaged front end.  Ultimately he was not able to compete after a steering rack failure early in the race.  We are extremey proud of his tenacity and competiveness.

Juan Rivero, another midwest racer, showed up to the race for the first time in his single seat race buggy and was able to place third.  Rivero drives the number 955 race buggy.  We are glad to see another competitor from our side of the country make his way out west to race in the desert.  We hope he can make it back for more desert competition.
